Short Bios

Gianluca Elia is Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering for Innovation at the University of Salento (Lecce, Italy). His research is characterized by a cross-disciplinary focus in the fields of Knowledge and Process Management, Technology Enhanced Learning, Management Information System and Technology Entrepreneurship.

On these topics, he published more than 80 scientific articles in international journals (like Journal of Enterprising Culture, Knowledge and Process Management, Journal of Intellectual Capital), conference proceedings and books; he also edited three books. He is reviewer for international journals and conferences, and he is Associate Editor of the “International Journal of Knowledge and Learning”.

He has also been scientific coordinator of several research projects at the national and international levels. He has been coordinator of the “Mediterranean School of e-Business Management”, a Euro-Mediterranean initiative focused on Digital Innovation in Southern Mediterranean Countries.

In 2011 he participated in the Entrepreneurship Development Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA).

Currently, he is involved in a research project focused on creating Virtual environment fostering technology entrepreneurship, by leveraging Collective Intelligence.

From July 2014, he is Research Affiliate at the Centre for Collective Intelligence of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, USA).

Since 2001, he teaches in academic and corporate programs several topics such as e-business management, knowledge management, project management, management accounting, and entrepreneurship. He is also supervisor of graduation projects and PhD theses.

Gianluca Solazzo is a Research Fellow at Centro Interdipartimentale Cultura Innovativa d’Impresa – University of Salento. His research covers Semantic Web Technologies, Data Mining, User Profiling Techniques, Information Retrieval and Recommendation Systems, CRM systems, Business Intelligence Systems, e-Learning and Multimedia, and Distributed Application Design and Development. He participated in several Italian and European research projects on e-Business and Knowledge Management (Teschet, DBE, MAIS, Virtual eBMS, X.Net.Lab, i-Design). Currently, he is involved in VINCENTE research project (Virtual collective INtelligenCe ENvironment to develop sustainable Technology Entrepreneurship ecosystem), focused on collective intelligence tools and techniques for e-learning and multimedia applications. He also taught basic and advanced MIS courses in post-graduate programs at Scuola Superiore ISUFI and University of Salento, by integrating theoretical concepts with applicative e-Business Laboratories (CRM, ERP, and Business Intelligence).
